12/18 HS Physics Class and homework due 1/8/20
Hi folks,
For the last class of 2019 we dove quite a bit deeper into Newton's 2nd law. We applied the law to a variety of sports to see how F=MA relates to baseball, football and soccer.
We also did another fairly complex lab where the students had to find the force exerted by a Hot Wheels launcher. They had to find the mass, velocity, time and acceleration of the cars in order to complete the task.
By the way, no class for the following two weeks. I wish you all a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and the happiest of any holiday you may celebrate! See you all in 2020!
For homework due 1/8: (Answers included in a separate email)
Read pages 59 - 70 in the text.
Do Review questions 1 - 18 on pages 71 and 72
Also do Plug and Chug questions 1 - 5 on page 72.
Also answer the following questions based on today's lab.
1. When you found the velocity of the car you had to double that for your calculations. Why?
2. When you found the acceleration, you used the time .01 s and not the time the car was moving. Why?
Best,
Jim Mueller
